Learn-to Camp in Halifax - Parks Canada Student Job Opportunity

The Parks Canada Learn-to Camp program offers workshops, activities, and overnight experiences, where participants will learn basic camping skills while connecting to nature in a safe and fun environment. We work with organizations like ISANS, the YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Mi’kmaq Native Friendship Centre, to name a few, and are committed to offering these outdoor experiences to as diverse an audience as possible. Additionally, we will be holding free public workshops on February 23 and March 3 at 7:00 pm, where applicants can ask questions and/or receive support when filling out their applications - more information about this session, eligibility, and more about the position itself.
Big News - Call For Applications: Active Transportation Fund

Recently, the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, launched a call for applications for new projects that will support the Active Transportation Fund.
The $400 million Active Transportation Fund is now accepting applications from eligible applicants who wish to help build new and expanded networks of pathways, bike lanes, trails and pedestrian bridges. Funding is available for planning projects as well as capital projects.

East Preston Active Transportation Project

In July 2021, a funding announcement from three levels of government was met with great enthusiasm in East Preston and beyond as a new 1.3 km, active transportation trail has been given the green light. The trail will connect the daycare and recreation centre and provide much-needed safe, accessible, active transportation in the area.
RNS caught up with a few people involved in the journey to learn how they got to this point, what this achievement means, and what still needs to be done.
