ParticipACTION Teen Challenge

Physical activity should be a vital and fulfilling part of everyday life—unfortunately, only seven per cent of Canadian children and youth are active enough to meet guidelines of 60 minutes of activity per day.  The ParticipACTION Teen Challenge, sponsored by Coca-Cola Canada, is a nationwide program that inspires and supports Canadian teens aged 13-19 to get moving more.

Teen Physical Activity Grants

Great ideas sometimes need a kick-start to get set in motion. That’s why we provide Teen Physical Activity Grants to help turn a bright idea for a teen physical activity program into a reality. Grants of up to $500 can go towards anything that will help teens get moving; equipment, space rentals, transportation, or instruction. If it helps bring a teen physical activity program to life, the ParticipACTION Teen Challenge can support the program by making funds available.

A Note From Coca Cola

At Coca-Cola Canada, we want to help ensure communities across Canada have access to programs that allow teens to get active and have fun. Together with ParticipACTION, we have created a program called the ParticipACTION Teen Challenge to provide communities across Canada with the resources they need to make this possible. The ParticipACTION Teen Challenge network extends to over 4,000 community organizations across Canada, engaging over 300,000 teens in becoming more active. We have committed $10 million over 10 years to continue to ensure we are building opportunities for teens to get active in their communities. By combining forces with ParticipACTION, we are able to achieve results beyond what each individual organization could otherwise achieve on their own.

Some Canadian families find the financial burden of physical activity programs to be a barrier. With grants available from Coca-Cola Canada, we are giving teens ages 13-19 the opportunity to get active, have fun and build confidence. Today, over $3.25 million in funding have been shared with communities across every province and territory in Canada.

Our commitments to active living and community involvement spread further than our commitment to ParticipACTION and the Teen Challenge program. As part of our 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games sponsorship, we made a $350,000 investment toward the creation of an outdoor sport court at the Ray-Cam Co-operative Centre in Vancouver’s inner city. It’s just one example of how we are helping Canadians from all walks of life to get active.
