Welcome to Take The Roof Off Winter (TTROW) 2016, Nova Scotia’s winter active campaign designed to help Nova Scotians of all ages improve their health and quality of life by being outdoors and active this winter!

On this site you can discover cool tips and ideas for having fun in the outdoors this winter. While on the web site be sure to sign up to be a TTROW Supporter, and use the great resources available – including the media materials, kids zone activities, posters, etc.

So, you’re helping your community, school, business or organization build more physical activity into their daily routine? Well don’t let them spend another winter sitting around the house being bored when there are so many cool ways to celebrate active and healthy living in Nova Scotia. You can create your own Take The Roof Off Winter event or make something you already do annually a Take The Roof Off Winter occasion. Build an outdoor rink; organize an outdoor game of ringette, broomball, curling or hockey; host an ice fishing competition; toboggan with friends and family; create a winter carnival; snowshoe through the woods; Whatever you do, get active, get winter green!

To help them take their first steps, take some time and explore this web site. Start by signing up to be a Supporter, then download The Take The Roof Off Winter logo for your promotional materials and use the ideas and tips section of the web site to plan some outdoor fun this winter. Besides the web site, there are volunteers and your local Recreational Staff -available in the six region of the province to assist you with your Take The Roof Off Winter plans and initiatives.

RNS’s role is to manage the Take The Roof Off Winter community mobilization and awareness campaign, using a comprehensive approach that uses targeted strategies. RNS will use proven methods of building partnerships, increasing community awareness, focusing on target areas and measuring success.
