James Bayer Bursary Award Recipient

The Recreation Nova Scotia Award Committee is pleased to announce 2010's second James Bayer Bursary Recipient.

Cody Brown is a graduating student of Hants East Rural High school in Milford Station, Nova Scotia. As a grade 12 student, he was involved with a variety of activities both in school and in the surrounding community. Some of these include coaching trampoline and gymnastics at local clubs in a variety of capacities since the age of 12, teaching swimming lessons at his local pool for more than 2 years, and volunteering for the Milford Recreation Association. In school he was an active member of the band, and had taken part in many leadership activities. Cody was selected as the top male contributor to school spirit for grade 12, and was awarded the Music Director's award twice. Last year he was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s award for his school: this award is given for a combination of academics and leardership skills.

In September, 2010, Cody will be entering his first year of study at University of New Brunswick in the Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree program. Over the past several years, Cody developed a love of teaching and coaching sport to youth, and it is something that he would like to continue doing as a career.

Cody is an excellent fit with the award criteria. The Awards Committee wishes him the best of luck in his first year at UNB!
