Director, Health Fitness and Recreation: Permanent, Full-time

Established in 1886, the YMCA of Cape Breton is the oldest, most diverse charity on Cape Breton Island. The YMCA is a volunteer driven, charitable organization serving all areas of Cape Breton Island. Reporting to the CEO, the director is responsible for ensuring excellence in programming in group fitness, individual conditioning, aquatics, rehabilitation and other health programs. The director will work with community groups in the design and delivery of physical activity programs such as cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation, weight loss, stress management or other needs as identified within Cape Breton. The director will also explore, develop and implement programs that meet the needs for priority populations such as children, youth and seniors.

Among other requirements, the qualifications include:
• Post Secondary Education in a related discipline;
• Extensive, related programming experience (7 years +) within a YMCA, private fitness club, community recreation or institutional setting;
• Broad knowledge and experience in the health / fitness industry;
• Minimum 4 years supervisory experience in a YMCA or related not-for-profit setting;
