Halifax - Schools, community groups, recreation departments, clubs, organizations and businesses across Nova Scotia are signing up to “Take the Roof off Winter”, a physical activity campaign designed to help Nova Scotians of all ages improve their health and quality of life by getting outdoors and being more active this winter.

The campaign, delivered by Recreation Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Department of Health Promotion and Protection , runs from December 21st to March 20th. The official launch takes place the first week in January.

”From snowshoe clinics to skating, from Nordic walking to building an outdoor rink or making snow angels in the backyard, communities throughout the province are organizing events, festivals and workshops aimed at getting more people outside and active in winter sports and activities.

The site provides cool tips and ideas on organizing and hosting outdoor events and activities as well as a venue for TTROW supporters and participants to post photos and stories of fun events. In addition, six (6) campaign ambassadors (recreation professionals and volunteers) are available across the province to provide support to groups looking to organize events in their communities.
