Live broadcast of TSN's Sportcentre part of Kraft Community Celebration Tour - August 29th, Amherst

Amherst, Nova Scotia, has been named as a winning community in the Kraft Community Celebration Tour – a national celebration that will see TSN's flagship news program, SPORTSCENTRE, broadcast live from 10 communities across the country over a period of 10 days. In addition to the TSN broadcast, Amherst will receive $25,000 from Kraft Canada that will go towards upgrading and improving the Cumberland YMCA, which plays a central role in the sports life of the community.

In celebration of TSN's 25th anniversary, anchors Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole will host the special edition of SPORTSCENTRE when it airs live from Amherst on Saturday, August 29.

  • Located on the western border of Nova Scotia, Amherst is the birthplace of four of Canada's 23 Fathers of Confederation and is also the hometown of hockey player Bill Riley, the third black player to make the NHL. With a population of 10,000, Amherst joins Kaslo, B.C., Kingston, ON, Red Deer, AB, Trois-Pistoles, QC, Watrous, SK, Paradise, NL, Fredericton Junction, NB, and Dauphin, MB, as one of 10 winning communities in the Kraft Celebration Tour.

    Amherst was named to the Kraft Celebration Tour after winning a national head-to-head online vote against Dartmouth.
