CAAWS (Canadian Association for the Advancement of Woman and Sport and Physical Activity) is introducing a new section to its Mothers in Motion website dedicated to recreation and physical activity promoters working with low socioeconomic status (LSES) mothers. Based on the information gathered from cross-Canada focus groups, CAAWS has developed tools and resources online to help plan community physical activity and/or sport programs for LSES mothers. These tools will assist practitioners to better address such specific community issues as accessibility, availability and affordability of physical activity opportunities for low socioeconomic status mothers and for their families.
The Mothers in Motion site also includes a vodcast of a presentation that was conducted in Alberta.
Resources are available in English and in French for downloading from the website at: http://www.caaws.ca/mothersinmotion/e/lowstatus/index.cfm
