Nova Scotia has a physical inactivity epidemic. The strength of the evidence makes it impossible to ignore. Our population at all age levels is increasingly inactive and efforts to change that need to happen now. Governments, communities and individuals cannot continue to bear the high costs associated with the growing levels of inactivity; it costs us in many ways… poor health; caregiver burden; decreasing productivity in schools and workplaces; increasing pollution; growing costs of drugs, physician, hospital and long term care; and in early death and disability. It is time to take action to reduce these debilitating losses to our health and to the economy.
Join us in communicating to our governments that they must embrace physical activity as a cornerstone of our future provincial healthcare. The investment now will have immediate and long term benefits to the wellbeing of Nova Scotians.
