2011 Annual Conference & Trade Show - Events & Activities

Tuesday, October 11th

Golf Tournament

12:00pm - 6:00pm

There will be a golf tournament for all exhibitors and delegates on Tuesday, October 11th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Arrive early and join delegates and exhibitors for a round of great golf and good fun.

You can register for the golf tournament on the conference registration form. The registration fee is $60.00 NOT including a cart! Please book your golf carts with the ProShop at 1-800-667-4637. The cost for a cart is $37.95 (HST inc.).

Trade Show Opening

7:30pm - 8:30pm

If you are interested in taking part in the Trade Show please download the Exhibitor's Package, complete it, and either fax or e-mail back the Exhibitor's Contract.

This year's theme - Recreation: The Power and The Potential - will bring together more than 250 delegates representing a broad interest in recreation and associated fields to network, exchange ideas and 'rediscover' what can be done in these economically challenging times to deliver quality programs, services and opportunities that empower Nova Scotians of all ages and abilities to adopt healthier, more physically active lives.

The trade wil open at 7:30pm and continue through to Wednesday.

Delegate & Exhibitor Reception

9:00pm

Meet and greet with exhibitors and delegates at 9:00pm following the opening of the trade show. The reception will be at the cabin 29 patio with a DJ!


Wednesday, October 12th

Lunch & Student Lunch in Trade Show

12:00pm - 1:30pm

From 12:00pm to 1:30pm there will be lunch in the trade show area so delegates and students can browse he great exhibitors we have this year. This will all be taking place in Digby Hall.

Regional Competition: Minute To Win It

8:00pm - 10:00pm

Chellenges using household items. 60 seconds on the clock. The Regional Games Trophy and pride on the line. Think you can do it? Well you've got a minute to win it. If you've seen the new hit show Minute To Win It you know that to compete in challenges you need nerves of steel, patience, quick reflexes, hand-eye coordination and SO MUCH MORE! Represent your region and show everyone that you can WIN IT in a MINUTE!

Dance

10:00pm - 1:00am

Head to the dance floor after the regional competition and cut a rug with all your friends! There will be a DJ there from 10:00pm - 1:00am.


Thursday, October 13th

Research Forum

2:00pm - 5:00pm

The Research Forum will provide an opportunity to share some of the cutting edge recreation research conducted in NS and to engage in discussion about its potential implications for you and your work.

Peggy Gallant Perceived barriers to coaching certification in NS schools

Nora Dickson and Charlene Shannon Daughters involvement in hockey and figure skating: Examining mothers' roles

Marilyn Johnston, Misty Doucette, Lindsay McCleod, Paul DesBarres, and Debby Smith Healthy eating research in recreation spaces in Shelburne and Yarmouth Counties

Hockey News!

3:00pm - 4:30pm

The Grant Potter Memorial Hockey Game will take place Thursday, October 13th at 3:00pm at the Digby Area Arena. Players must provide their own gear. To get in on the action please contact Katie Harvieux at activeliving.dark@bellaliant.com.

RNS Awards Banquet

5:30pm - 8:00pm

Band: Twist of Fate

9:00pm - 1:00am

Thursday night starting at 9:00pm Twist of Fate will be returning and playing us into Friday morning in Digby Hall.


Friday, October 14th

RNS Annual General Meeting and Breakfast

7:30am - 9:30am

The AGM will take place in the resaurant from 7:30am to 9:30am.
