1.Women Active NS Trendsetters Awards – The 4th annual Trendsetters awards will take place on Saturday April 27th in Halifax. More information:



2. Trendsetter Nominations - We need YOU to nominate a Valley female in one of the following categories:

Leadership Trendsetters Award
Media Trendsetters Award

Criteria: Please ensure you've thoroughly read and understand the criteria for each award here:


The WANS Trendsetters change the culture, attitudes, programs, and systems to enrich the lives of all women and girls as participants and leaders in sport, recreation, and physical activity. They break down barriers, challenge the status quo, try new experiences, dare others to dream, blaze new trails, and showcase the talent that exists across Nova Scotia in order to ensure fair and equitable access and opportunities for women and girls. Join us to nominate a program/ person/ facility / media trendsetter in Nova Scotia.


3. Coach Mentorship Program:

Are you a coach who would love some support? Would you like guidance and support in furthering your coaching knowledge? We want to pair up an experienced Nova Scotia coach with upcoming committed coaches who are looking to grow in their roles! We want to increase the opportunities for coaches to work with coaches in other sports and see what other contexts look like!

Deadline for Coach Mentees: April 1st

Coach Mentees:

Must be currently coaching, must show interest and motivation for continuing to develop as a coach.
Coach athletes at least 4-6 months of the year
Have completed some NCCP Training in their sport or multi-sport
Are committed to participation in the full program
Have support of their Community Sport Organization


4. Coaching Professional Development Session – Anxiety Reduction Techniques


April 4th from 5:30pm-8:00pm at the Digby Curling Centre (27 Shreve St) in Digby. This is a free event and supper is included!


Attend this interactive workshop and learn about Anxiety Reduction Techniques in athletes and participants. This workshop is facilitated by Danielle Poulous. Danielle’s area of expertise is Mental Skills in sport. She loves working with athletes and helping them achieve their goals.
