We're in deep, Canada. Teens are less fit than ever. It's time to peel yourself off the couch, dust off the chip crumbs and GET MOVING. That's why we're challenging you to get all your friends active. It'll take pull. It'll take creativity. It'll take energy.
Think you got what it takes?
Get 13-19-year-old friends from your area to join your Challenge and get active.
You could be named 1 of 12 Sogo Active Ambassadors, and WIN* $5,000 plus even more cool prizes**!

Sogo Active is a national physical activity program that empowers youth, aged 13-19, to challenge themselves to solve the physical inactivity crisis in Canada. Sogo Active was developed by ParticipACTION, Coca-Cola Ltd. and an Advisory Committee of youth and organizations to create a youth-focussed physical activity movement, and to help young Canadians aged 13-19, by providing the support and resources they need to get more active in their own communities. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection for being a funding partner of this initiative.

The goal of Sogo Active is to eliminate Canada's inactivity crisis by supporting and encouraging youth to find fun reasons and new opportunities to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives..

COMMUNITY HOSTS

Are you with an organization, big or small, that can support youth in getting more active?
Sogo Active is delivered by a network of Provincial and Territorial Coordinators, and over a thousand local Community Host organizations like yours.

A Community Host is an approved organization that's registered with Sogo Active to provide young people with the grounds, facilities, equipment, expertise or other support they need to get active. Get involved and host a Challenge! Become a Community Host at www.sogoactive.com. It's free, and we'll support you with a welcome kit, ideas and access to micro grants which is funding of up to $500 for an ongoing Challenge, or up to $250 for a one-time event.
As a Community Host, you will also be able to create Sogo Active Challenges that are searchable on SogoActive.com. Youth members can find these Challenges, review their details and choose to accept them.
Sogo Active can increase your organization's profile among youth, draw young people to your new or existing programs and help you build active leaders in your community.

To sign up as a Community Host please visit the SOGO Active website www.sogoactive.com. It is an easy 5-10 minute process that is all done online. If you do not see the link for community host registrations on the home page please delete your browsing history and cookies and refresh your screen. It will take up to a couple of days to process your registration but once everything is verified by the provincial co-hosts you will receive an email stating that you are an official community host of the program.

MICRO GRANTS??

Most Challenges won't need funding to get started. For others some money may be necessary, especially if the Challenge requires special equipment or facilities.
Sogo Active Community Hosts can apply for small grants to support youth physical activities that will be associated with SogoActive.com. An ongoing Challenge (which generally occurs at least once a week for a minimum of four weeks) may be eligible for up to $500 in funding, while a one-time event could receive up to $250 in assistance.
Each application must be completed by a Community Host, and will require at least several weeks and up to several months to be reviewed and approved by the Sogo Active Provincial/Territorial Coordinator in your region.
Sogo Active youth members may only apply for funding through a Community Host. To apply, think about your idea and decide how much funding you might need for your Challenge, and explain how you would use it. Then contact a Sogo Active Community Host, and fill out the funding application together. If your Challenge receives funding, the Community Host with whom you apply will receive the funds on your behalf.

Click Here to download the micro-grant application and help sheet.
Click Here for a template that you can use for the report due upon completion of your project.

*Please note, projects that receive micro grant funding will be ineligible for the Can You Fill These Shoes challenge.
