On behalf of Nova Scotia Environment and Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection, we would like to invite you to attend a half-day workshop on the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI).
The AQHI is a new health communications tool which shows the risk to health from local air pollution on any particular day. The workshop will be held on Thursday, October 14th at the Alderney Gate Public Library (60 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth) from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. There is no charge to attend.
The goal of this workshop is to present and discuss how the AQHI is particularly relevant to people at higher risk from air pollution. At-risk groups include people with heart or lung conditions, seniors, young children, and people physically-active outdoors. We would also like to hear your thoughts on how the AQHI might best serve these populations in Nova Scotia.
The Government of Canada is implementing the AQHI across Canada in partnership with provincial governments and organizations. Nova Scotia Environment is the project lead for the AQHI in Nova Scotia in partnership with Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection and organizations throughout the province.
