Job Title: Physical Activity and Community School Coordinator

The Town and the Municipality of the District of Shelburne are seeking to fill the position of Physical Activity and Community School Coordinator.

Scope of Work: Responsible to plan, develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate physical activity opportunities, youth leadership development, and community use of Shelburne Regional High School to increase physical activity levels of all ages in the Town and Municipality of the District of Shelburne.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Recreation Management, Physical Education or equivalent OR Nova Scotia Community College Certificate in Recreation Leadership or equivalent.

General Responsibilities:
(1) Coordinate the provision of diverse recreational, educational, and lifelong learning services to the community through program planning, implementation, and supervision of community use of SRHS in accordance with the Joint Use of Schools Agreement.
(2) Coordinate the development of a comprehensive physical activity strategy and physical activity opportunities.
(3) Coordinate and implement the components of the Physical Activity Strategy.
(4) Develop relationships and partnerships in the community.
(5) Manage staff related to the community’s use of the school.
(6) Promote the concept and benefits of lifelong learning and physical activity.
(7) Act as a resource to the school and the community.
(8) Coordinate and promote youth leadership development opportunities.
