Taking place at all hospital sites and several CHA Community Agency sites

Snow Creations Photo Contest
All week long, build a snowman or create a snow sculpture and take a picture. Drop it off at the County office or e-mail it to Stephanie Fage by Mar. 2 at sfage@cumberlandcounty.ns.ca to enter your picture for a great prize package from Get Active Cumberland! Please submit the picture with name, phone number and permission to be used for public viewing.

1:00-4:00pm: Snowshoeing at Wards Falls. Wards Falls Trail in Wharton, Free of charge. 30 pairs of snowshoes available.
4:00-5:30pm: Free General Skate- Amherst Arena, Amherst.
6:00pm: Firefighter’s Winter Carnival- Oxford Fire Hall. $2 per person, infants free.
6:30-7:30pm: Canadian Tire JumpStart Free Skate- Richard Calder Arena , Springhill.

Sunday, February 21
7:00-10:00am: Pancake Breakfast- Field and Marsh Dining Room, Amherst Wandlyn. $5.00 incl. (Children 4-8 1/2 price). Includes blueberry or plain pancakes, bacon or sausage and tea/coffee.
8:30am-5:30pm: Family Ski Wentworth Day- Bus to the slopes leaving the Cumberland YMCA at 8:30am.
9:00-11:30am: Public Skating at Parrsboro Lion's Arena- Cost $2, Family $5

Friday, February 26
9am-4:00pm: Snowshoe or Hike the Trails at the Wallace Museum. Sponsored by WADA.
9:00-11:30am: Public Skating at Parrsboro Lion's Arena- Cost $2, Family $5
9:30-11:30am: Friday Morning Fun Times- Maggie’s Place Family Resource Centre and Public Health invite parents and caregivers and children to the Rotary Park (across the street from Maggie’s Place, at 11 Elmwood Drive in Amherst) to build snowmen, paint the snow and have lots of outdoor fun! Free snacks provided!
2:00pm: Red Cross Information session for seniors. Refreshments served. Please register by calling Tanya at 667-1927. Held at the Tidnish Community Centre.
8:00-10:00pm: Snowball Dance– A fun YMCA dance for ages 7-14 with a winter theme. Dress in white and watch yourself glow in the black lights! Register at the YMCA or by calling 667-9112.
9:00pm: Musical Entertainment– Following the curling event at the Northumberland Community Curling Club, Pugwash.

Saturday, February 27
8:00-11:00am: The Amherst Masonic Society will be hosting a breakfast- at the Masonic Temple, 20 Lawrence Street, Amherst. Enjoy a great deal on a hot breakfast of blueberry pancakes, sausages or bacon, homefries, white or whole wheat toast, and coffee, tea, or juice.
9:00am-1pm: Breakfast at the Parrsboro Legion- $7.00 per person.
11:00am: Outdoor Winter Challenge– Teams of 5 will compete in a variety of fun challenges! Held at the Rotary Park in Amherst, off Elmwood Drive (across from Maggie's Place). Cost is $75 per team before Feb 15th and $100 after. Proceeds go to the ‘Y’ and Cumb. JumpStart. Register at the YMCA or call 667-9112.
1:00-3:30pm: Wagon Rides- Leaving from the Town Hall in Parrsboro. Taking donations, so pay what you can!
1:00-3:00: Ship’s Company Theatre Snowman Competition– Includes exhibits and hot coco.
1:00-3:00pm: Family Snow Sculpture Event- At the Rodney Estabrooks Memorial Sports Field in Tidnish. Free Hot chocolate. Bring your own tools but the TCACA will supply some water bottles and food coloring for your sculpting pleasure. Take pictures and enter to win. See details on first page.
4:00-6:00pm: Catholic Church Casserole Dinner- St. Brigid's Hall, Cost $8adult, $3.50 Children under 12
4:30pm: Cabin Fever Biathlon– The YMCA will host a biathlon event which will include run/walk/jog, obstacle course and swimming activities. Please call the YMCA at 902-667-9112 to register.

1:00-3:00pm: Outdoor Family Skate- Tidnish Bridge Skating Rink. Tidnish Community Association will bring the hot chocolate, you bring your skates and helmets! (weather permitting).
1:30-3:30pm: Snowshoeing at the Seagull Property on Thompson Rd- Offered by the Friends of the Pugwash Estuary. Contact Bob Nogler, 243- 2985 to register and reserve your snowshoes today!
3:00 - 4:30 pm: Family Coasting Party- Pit Pond, Springhill. Coasting, Cookies & Cocoa!
7:30 - 8:30pm: Free Adult Only Skate– Oxford Arena

Free Bus from River Hebert to Free Skate in Amherst on Feb 20th!
Meet at the River Hebert High School at 3:00pm. The skate is for all ages and skaters will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis up to a maximum of 48 people. Includes free voucher for a hot dog and chocolate milk!

Free Bus from Pugwash to Free Skate in Oxford on Feb 21st!
Meet at the Pugwash District High School at 12:15pm. The skate is for all ages and space is limited, so be sure to reserve a seat on the bus by contacting Greg Nix by Thursday Feb. 18 at 243-3295 or e-mail at gregalvina@yahoo.ca.

Brookside Curling Club– 5th Annual Old Souls Bonspiel

Northumberland Community Curling Club Cumberland Winter Festival Funspiel
February 19 and 20, 2010. Register up at the curling club - $10 (goes toward food). Curling bonspiel on Friday evening and Saturday. You will be assigned to a team when you register and new curlers are welcome.
Snow Sculpturing Contest – judging will be Feb. 20. Create your snow sculpture anytime before the 20th behind the club. For more information contact is Trink Hudson -243-2638. Take pictures to win additional prizes. See first page for details!
Open Houses– From Monday to Friday starting at 6pm. The Club will be decorated with a Winter Olympics Theme. Come for specialty drinks with Olympic Sports names.

Tantramar presents the Brown Bag Theatre
February 24, 25 and 26 at noon at the Tantramar Theatre, Victoria Street Amherst. The play , TO TOP IT ALL OFF, is written and directed by Don Miller. Door open at 11:30 with lunch provided by Bambinos. Price is $12.00. TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE by calling the Tantramar Theatre at 667-7002. This comedy tells the story of a blushing bride and her really cheap groom. This noon hour show is over by 12:50, time to get back to work!
