Do you work at a community centre, fitness club, or recreational facility that promotes physical activity? Are you a recreation provider or a person involved with a community organization that understands the value of including individuals of all abilities, but does not know where to begin?
All Abilities Welcome (AAW), an initiative of the Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability, in partnership with the Active Fundy Partnership, an initiative aimed at increasing the physical activity levels of Fundy residents, are proud to bring you a workshop that is aimed at promoting greater inclusion of residents with a disability in community physical activity and recreation programming.
At the workshop you will hear success stories from persons who have made the effort to create inclusive programs, participate in facilitated discussion to help you walk away with specific strategies that can help your programs to become more inclusive, and take part in a couple of sport demonstrations.
By connecting community partners and persons with a disability, we hope to build awareness that everyone can be physically active; to share the simple strategies that can make this a reality; and to promote a culture of inclusion in East Hants, Colchester and Cumberland Counties.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
For more information and to RSVP contact Matt Pryde at matthew.pryde@gov.ns.ca or phone (902) 896-2200. Registration deadline is February 19th, 2010.
