Upcoming Leader Workshop: DETAILS

Leader "Refresher" Workshops

RNS will be offering two half-day refresher courses for all Move More Leaders. These free courses will provide an overview of the new Move More for Active Aging materials, which specifically target physical activity and older adults. The courses will also include a brief refresh of the Leader Manual.

Dates / times of the half-day refresher courses:
Thursday, March 25: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Wednesday, March 31: 1 – 4 pm

The courses will be presented via the Nova Scotia Telehealth Network (NSTHN). This Network has locations in all hospitals in the province, as well as several community health centres, primary care locations, and justice facilities. This makes it easy for you to attend a refresher course, as you simply need to access the NSTHN location nearest you.

The NSTHN locations currently booked for these sessions are:
Amherst, Antigonish, Bridgewater, Digby, Halifax (IWK), Kentville, Sheet Harbour (March 31 only), Shelburne, Sydney (March 25 only), and Yarmouth

To register, please complete the registration form and RSVP by March 19 for the first course and March 26 for the second course. If you are interested in attending but are unable to make it to one of these sites, please contact Dave Morgan as soon as possible, as it may be possible to find a location closer to you. All Move More Leaders are strongly encouraged to attend these refresher courses.

These updates to the Move More program have been made possible through a NS Department of Seniors grant. The new Move More for Active Aging program includes: updates to the course overheads and handouts; training materials on engaging older adults in physical activity; updated marketing materials; and new resources to access, among others. These revised materials will be distributed to all current and new Move More Leaders, enabling you to lead a Move More workshop for older adults in your community!
