Organizational Committees of Recreation Nova Scotia

Awards & Recognition Committee:
Reviews and processes nominations for the annual Recreation Nova Scotia Awards and Provincial Volunteer Awards Program and oversees the coordination of the award ceremonies.

RNS Golf Tournament Committee:
Recruits and oversees the annual September Golf Tournament in support of the James Bayer Bursary. Create the tournament budget, timeliness and format, recruits volunteers, obtains prizes and tournament supporters and sponsors and has lots of FUN!!!

Membership Services:
Ensures Recreation Nova Scotia attracts new members and undertakes activities to support the member services objectives. Conducts an annual review of the membership using statistics, focus groups and surveys.

Accessibility Committee:
Through programs, sub committees, training and resources supports increased and meaningful participation of individuals with disabilities in their choice of recreation. Recreation Nova Scotia is the provincial representative for The Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability

HIGH FIVE Advisory Committee:
Provides advice and strategic direction to the Recreation Nova Scotia Executive Director and HIGH FIVE Coordinator and staff on matters pertaining to HIGH FIVE implementation, resource development, public education, strategic partnerships, evaluation and the national roll out agreement. The Advisory Committee meets on an as needed basis.

Recreation Matters (June is Receation Month and Take the Roof Off Winter) Committee:
The Committee to provide advice and strategic direction to the Recreation Nova Scotia Executive Director on matters pertaining to June as Recreation Month plan, resource development, public education, strategic partnerships, evaluation. Members of the Committee will champion June as Recreation Month, provide connections to other stakeholders and provide strategic advice to assist in achieving the objectives of June as Recreation Month in Nova Scotia.

Conference Committee:
Recruits and oversees the work of the conference sub committees. Creates the conference budget, timeliness, critical path, proposed program and theme. Sub Committees include: Trade show, Program, Auction, Registration, Entertainment, Marketing and Sponsorship. This years co chairs are Lana McMullin and Hugh MacDonald.

History of Recreation Committee:
This committee came together in 2007 to develop a provincial strategy to capture, disseminate, store, learn from and celebrate the history of recreation in Nova Scotia. Their work now is focused on promoting research projects to the universities, creating a video, and promoting the If in Doubt Don't Throw It Out campaign
